What is required to be a professional boxer?

I'm pretty sure that being able to box would be a good start. But I'm thinking more about the technical requirements to get a boxing licence from the BBBC.

Having an amateur pedigree would help no doubt, but there must be plenty of boxers, even journeymen, who had none or little amateur experience.

So how would you go about it?

1) you will to get or be under a pro trainer/licence holder
2) Get the application form and rule book from the BBBC
3) Medical
4) A meeting with BBBC to see if they will grant you a pro licence to box on licensed BBBC shows. The meeting will be with 2 or 3 of the area reps, they will then obviously interview you. If you going to do this then you will need to know the rules before (hence the rule book as they might question you on them) and bring evidence of any fights and fight record with you.

Thats pretty much the process

Obviously training in an established pro gym or having a good amatuer record will help you out a lot.
