Default Fastest way to boost cardio

Starting up again after 8 months out with an injury. cardio is wrecked, i want to get some decent base cardio before getting back into mma training, what's the quickest or best way to do it. running is the obvious, but what?
    sprints? long distance? intervals?
    other?

    any advice is appreciated.

    cheers

Im the same mate, ive been out for a bit and will be back in 1-2 weeks once my broken toe has healed up.

I am gonna hit interval training on the treadmill, like so:

    warm up for 3 minutes
up every minute for 7 minutes where you will be running fairly quick
    fast walk for 1 minute
another 7 minutes but starting higher than before ending with a sprint for 1 minute
    walk for 2 minutes
another 7 minutes at a good pace
    warm down for 3 minutes

Thats 30 minutes on the treadmill which will be enough to begin with. Add in another 7 minutes once your getter better then do for 8 at a time which will get you up to 40 minutes.

Do that before any gym session if you plan to exercise in other areas
