Belt demotions???

I can kind of understand people demoting guys who are new to their gym, if they're well behind the level of ability at the belt level or whatever.

Demoting your own students is dumb though.

lol, my old BJJ instructor is a fruit cake, i was a 3 stripe white belt, and he took a stripe off me for training striking and MMA somewhere else (not something he covered). So i gave him all the stripes back and his patch and found an instructor with better values.

^ I may be wrong but did Rodrigo Gracie not demote himself to brown belt when he first went to Renzo's? I think I remember reading that somewhere?

When the late Helio Gracie reached his final days he was unable to roll anymore due to illness. They should have demoted him to white belt!!

Or may demotions are bull sh*t??
