Need advice please
I'm running and doing classes like spin, conditioning as well as boxing when
I can fit it in. I'm feeling a little bit fitter all the time but I seriously need to get my bmi down. I want to join the territorial army after being out of the regular army for ten years. Am I doing the right thing by doing all different classes (going to try sambo on Friday) or is there a conflict between any exercise that will build muscle and lowering my bmi?
I know a lot of people think bmi is rubbish and we should be judged on fitness, but it looks like this is just something I'm going to have to do. I hope to get what I want I won't have to just run, starve and run.
Thanks.

Hi Paul,
First you need to be aware of what you have to lose. If you have a higher bodyfat, this will be slightly easier than if you are carrying lots of muscle. The best bet is to get your body fat % and myself and some of the other members should be able to help you tailor your workouts from that.

Thanks mate, I'll try to get that sorted tomorrow. Boxing tomorrowand Sambo friday, but I'm wondering if I should just run.
I'll get that squared away, thanks a lot.

Weight 18st 7lb 117.9kg
Height 5'10 1.78m
Bmi 37.2
Bodyfat 31.6'/.
Bodyfat mass 37.2kg

I've been doing spin classes and interval running on a treadmill. I want to start going to boxing classes, bjj, etc as well as conditioning, but as they are strict on bmi and muscle weights more than fat I'm thinking I need to just run a couple of times a day and lose as much as I can. I'm eating from a slimming world plan and cut beer right down to a few cans on a Sunday at home watching the ufc. Think I need to bin the beer completely.
I might have to look at alternative methods of weight loss I think, just until I get through this.
