playing MP4 on windows media player

heres one for you tech heads out there.

recently downloaded some videos in MP4 format. My computer won't play them on windows media player or windows media centre.

is there a codec or a program i can use to play them? preferably something not riddled with virus's

Get VLC Media Player

VLC player is the dogs balls! plays everything, and if you read some walkthroughs it can convert files too~!
