    Default Lancashire Catch wrestling seminar.

Coach Roy Wood has agreed to teach traditional Lancashire Catch wrestling again – back where it belongs in Wigan!
Roy is one of the last students of the legendary Billy Riley, and teaches the original style from the world renowned Riley’s gym. This old school form of wrestling is almost certain to provide something new for wrestlers, submission grapplers and MMA practitioners alike.

We currently have wrestlers from all over the country getting involved, trying to get Catch back on the map, as the sport it once was!
Intensive seminars are held on a monthly basis at the Snakepit in Wigan, see the website for details.

Next seminar is being held on Saturday 28th April. Be sure to visit the site and fill out an application if you are interested.

Hi, Roy has been coaching freestyle for many years due to a decline of interest in Catch. Roy is committed to his long established freestyle club during the week, coaching on most nights. Due to a recent genuine interest in traditional catch, and many requests, Roy has agreed to start teaching it again via the seminars.

Hi there. The seminars are £50. People start arriving for the catch around 1pm-ish. There is a warm up, technique session then catch wrestling at the end. They are usually all done and dusted for 3.30-4pm. There is an option to arrive early for an additional freestyle session that runs before the catch, for those interested in improving their general wrestling, but this is dependent on the amount of interest we receive.

The April seminar is fully booked now. We try not to oversubscribe the seminars, so the coaches can give due attention to those attending. There is a booking facility on the website so a place can be reserved if you are interested in one of the future seminars.
