The easiest way to stop queries regarding lineage (ala BJJ Police on EFN) is to post it eg
Carlos Gracie - Carlson Gracie - Ricardo De La Riva - Doug McMaster - James McIntyre (purple belt)

A completely painless way of legit clubs to avoid queries and also avoid the rest of us being inflicted with these sorts of thread every 6 months or so

Agreed Meat, but certain people ie Scotlands most talked about brown belt won't, even though he must know his grade is questioned.

Which is what generates these kind of questions anyway, BJJ practitioners are normally very quick (and very proud) to talk about their instructor, their instructors instructor etc. Regardless of where you go. In most of my first meetings with guys on training trips one of the first things they'll say is their name, quickly followed by their instructor and association. It's not something that's kept hidden. When it is suspicion is aroused, threads like the ones mentioned appear (you just need to look over on EFN at the BJJ Police section, it's full of them) and in the vast majority of cases they are easily put to bed by someone simply saying "I got my belt off this guy" which is then backed up by one of the guys contacting said person.

    Lineage mcblackbelt > me

My belt of course is not in BJJ, it's in calling it it like it is.

    Amro Boray (brownbelt) = Liar
Ricky Gillan (purplebelt) = Paid for
David Clark (purplebelt) = Paid for

These truths are self evident and although these truths may offend some people they are still however the truth.

Regarding a seminar, I'm giving a free one as we speak. You are all attending and I hope you can all take something useful away with you. When you see a phoney, call them out and walk away. You deserve better in your BJJ journey.

    Peace

jealousy is just love and hate at the same time.

idk anything about the other two but rickys put most of his life into martial arts.
try rolling with him, rolled with a few good purple belts and brown belts that aren't even close to Rickys level.

You think that is purple belt instruction???

Can you not see that the sequence is highly unlikely to work against anyone other than a complete 60kg beginner???

Can you not see the faults in the 'technique'???

He may have very well been training martials arts his whole life but his jiu-jitsu is not purple belt standard...

I guess I should get to the point of this...

Ricky is a very good business man, but in an attempt to get ahead he has used some very underhanded tactics which actively effect other gyms.

We all can understand that in business it's just the done thing. Underhanded tactics, who you know, what money you have etc, but when you do something like (promoting yourself/paying for promotion) then you are taking money away from guys who have spent 10, 12, 15 YEARS to master their craft!

The guys that do things the right way and EARN their belt rank to teach jiu-jitsu, these guys that were on the mat everyday, taking a beating off the higher belts, helping the lower belts under a qualified instructor who had done the same...to take money away from these guys by promoting yourself/paying for a belt, makes you a cock faggot!

I KNOW, months prior to affiliating with $Gracie$Barra$ Ricky was actively trying to affiliate with Royce Gracie and his network. He was declined due to Royce having an instructor in the local area. He could've done a deal with said instructor and worked under him, but that would've meant no immediate promotion for Ricky...which was no use to him...

There was also the previous ties with Carl Fisher before that but again Carl couldn't promote him, so no wonder why that ended.

Legarto is a hired gun to give Ricky cred.

    Ricky has a fraudulent rank.

    This needs to stop happening!!!

If we let them continue the standard of jiu jitsu will only sink lower.
