you saw him murder guys in the past because he is fighting higher calibre of fighters now. when you progress to higher and higher levels the fights become much more even, james is fighting better than ever and his training has probably never been better with the team that surrounds him, it just wasnt his night

I don't think it's James' level that is the question. I think it's possibly holding back from his old aggressive in your face striking that got him to that stage. It's patter like that will get a fighter questioning whether he belongs on big stage. I'm not saying everything you said is wrong. Most of it makes sense but maybe you're thinking I am throwing a criticism at Doolan from nowhere. I'm not, he has pointed this out himself in interview and I had already been thinking that was the case when I watched him.

I'm a fan.. Always expect big things when I watch him. His form has taken a little dip lately but he'll be back and knocking out some of these "higher calibre of fighters" from Sweden, I'm sure of it.

James Doolan is one of the pioneers of Scottish MMA and is widely recognised as one of the top coaches in the country. I'm sure he is aware of any holes he may or may not have in his game be that mentally or physically. Can't see the point in having a go at him on here tbh.
Regardless of his recent "form" i'd still pay to see him fight any day of the week. Even if his game plan was to just step in the cage and throw faeces at his opponent.
