Default ‘Fixes’ in MMA by James Thompson

I’ve been involved, in and around Mma for a good ten years. One of the things I’ve noticed that has never really changed about it is people shouting “fix” at any available opportunity.

Do you not think Reid knew he was going to win via triangle before the fight started?

Fight fixing goes on in all the main fights, albeit moreso in the lower classes: muay thai has a load of rigged fights in thailand, boxing has loads of history of match-rigging and that mickey mouse EBF are nearly all rigged for the home fighter, kickboxing/k1 i know of at least active fighter that has took a dive for an extra £200, and i also know of a few semi-pro and pro mma fighters that have 'gave up' a limb to be submitted for a little extra few quid.

Does it go on in the big league? I'd guess so though to prove it is very hard, but humans being humans i reckon it does to some extent. It's just a fact that humans can be greedy and not always resist temptation. Let's just hope it's few and far between.

I always thought Shamrock took dives, the incentive behind it alot of the time will be personal gain through bets obviously.
