Yes. Herb done exactly the same a few events ago this year. Can't remember the exact fight but google would find it for sure!
Like many parts of the unified rules things are simply misunderstood, guessed at or simply not known - and this is all the way upto the worlds top fighters and coaches.
if you think its easy stop now
no one achieved anything by doing nothing
never argue with a fool
if fighting is a pursuit rooted in pain, you will find the best teachers have often absorbed the most punishment themselves......and remained standing

very worrying that hardened followers of MMA dont know an intentional foul carries a 2 point deduction under the unified rules
to be fair its not a rule that is implemented often if at all. You look at Bisping vs Rivera, thats one of the most blatent fouls iv seen and that was only a 1 point if any. Also Cheik Kongo kicks someone in the balls almost every fight and there isnt ever a 2 point deduction.
I also had a read through the unified rules on the UFC website and couldnt see reference to a 2 point deduction on there, unless i missed it
Marc, can you explain in what situation a 1 point deduction should be used please.
Also, what is the definition of intent? Is it that you knew you were doing something illegal and did it anyway to gain an advantage, e.g. repeated fence grabbing. Or you meant to do something that was legal but it turned out to be illegal, e.g. a low blow.
I would ban the triangle choke, the refuge of cowards everywhere.
16. Injuries sustained by fair blows and fouls.
C. If an injury is sustained during competition as a result of an intentional foul, as determined by the referee, and the bout is allowed to continue, the referee shall notify the scorekeeper to automatically deduct two points from the contestant who committed the foul.
Not sure if I can make it any clearer?
