Default TUF Trials, will the best get through?

I was speaking to a friend of mine who knows a little about the Aussie MMA scene and he tells me the overall strength in depth is quite low.
This got me thinking, will they pick a slightly lower level from the UK guys to make the program closer.
The UK has some bad ass 155/170lbs'rs, it wouldn't surprise me if some big names get overlooked so the Aussies don't get owned.
I suppose we'll find out soon enough.
    Thought's anyone?

I wouldn't be wholly surprised if a few of the top attendees looked good enough that they might be considered for the Nottingham undercard, and then some 'competitive' match-ups sought for TUF. I wanna live in Sydney for a few weeks and fight some monsters.

Can't see all the best getting through. No doubt there will be a representation from the likes of Kaobon, Wolfslair (links to) as they are the most well known gyms and probably have the best contacts. Not saying that they don't warrant getting fighters in but no doubt their roster may get a closer look.

I really hope they pick a mixture of UK guys from different parts (including Scotland) as the UK does need to be represented geographically.

Usually a mixture of some really good guys that the organsiation would already be aware of, some guys with a lot of potential and a few wild cards.

I think if they picked the UK's strongest team at most weights they would beat the aussies.

I was wondering the same. The UK talent is far higher than the Australian one. I've trained in Australian mma for about 4 years now, there's some decent guys but overall the standard is well below that of the UK. That said, there's some decent guys fighting over east and I'm sure the creators of the show will be looking to make it as competetive as possible. I'd say if you picked both nations top 12 fighters the UK would win a huge % of the time, but a bit of creative selection and who knows. One thing's for sure the Aussies, even with lower talent levels, will not be easy to beat, there's something about the Aussies and a never say die attitude, particularly when it comes to competing against the English in anything, they always seem to be able to raise their performance another few notches, so any English guys going over there expecting an easier ride could get caught out.
