Aberdeen No-Gi Comp

Granite City Grappling is looking to put on a no-gi comp in Aberdeen this summer. If it's a success then we will probably look at doing a gi one later in the year. After we all had a good time at the comp in Elgin, we thought it was about time there was a grappling comp in Aberdeen.

I've had a look at dates and am hoping some of you can advise if there are any shows/comps on so we can avoid clashing with them.

Just now it looks like it will be on one of the last two weekends in June. Either Sunday the 23rd or 30th. Would that clash with anything else?

I hear there is a Sportfight on June 30, so maybe the weekend of the 23rd would work best.

That's cool. It's good to have your support. I hope all the teams in Aberdeen will be up for it. I'm going to get round to inviting them all. Just have to iron out a few details first.

The date is confirmed as Sunday, June 24. It will take place at Banks o' Dee Sports Centre in Aberdeen. Details about times, rules etc will follow. But I'm just trying to give people a heads up so they can put it in their diaries. The competition will run in the afternoon, we don't want to start too early on a Sunday... Meat and Garry Christie have kindly agreed to come up to ref. Update over.

I heard that Ground Control is that week end. So you might lose a few people to that

There's loads on during the summer. It has been surprisingly hard to find a weekend where there is nothing else going on in Scotland. Plenty of MMA shows are on up here over that time. Where's ground control? Manchester?
