Default UCMMA 29: Nunes vs. Martell

Great test for both guys - both currently 5-0 with 5 finishes, and August will be the time they take that step up to the tougher opponents. Should be a good scrap from two exciting young prospects.

whoa, that's a massive fight. two up-and-comers with huge potential. UFC want to tune in for that one, and keep a close eye on both regardless of the outcome. Hope Martell steamrolls his opponent on ECFF.

    Really mate? The UFC?

Between them they have beaten 1 guy with a winning record

Martell is 5-0 on Sherdog (is probably missing fights) but has wins over guys who are 1-2, 3-11, 1-3, 3-3, 2-6

    Whilst Nunes is 5-0 against guys who are 3-1, 0-1, 0-1, 0-3, 0-1

It's a fight between two untested prospects (and Martell does look like he has a lot of tools) but if that's UFC form then i really worry about the state of the sport

I just find it unbelievable that UCMMA are matching two guys up who both have positive records... Very strange.

fair enough, i think they are both fooking good. yes, untested, but i think they both have incredible potential. yeah, maybe i'm being over-enthusiastic/optimistic for them.

haha it's funny how even when i give the least amount of a fuck about ukmma that i ever have, i can still irk people with my bright outlook.

I'm pumped for this fight. Both have had some shit luck with pull outs etc but this is going to show who is one of the best up and coming LHW in the country.

This is a great fight for Iain and will put him right up there in the ranking. But he got a fight first on my show ECFF, which is not as easy as people think. Let hope he come thought that fight first.

I am with Ian Dean that these 2 need more good fights before they think UFC...................

    Great fight UCMMA

Hang on, fucks sake, I didn't say 'winner of this gets signed'. I said the ufc should keep an eye on them. I was thinking 2-3 good wins, but accept it should probably be more like, 4-5-6

I tweeted that I wanted to see this fight after Nunes last showing.

Ive been a Martell fan for some time because of his style and Nunes has won me over with his too but I think they both need to meet to progress as they havent really been tested yet.

This fight is the best for both of their careers IMO but as for talk of UFC , that will be the reward of the winner alone IMO but neither has earned it yet as Ian Dean rightly states.

And as Jimmy said it will just be talk as they are a few good wins away even after one of them wins this.
