There's no other real heavyweight contenders outside of the UFC that would make sense for cormiers last fight in strikeforce. Big timmy might be hated and pretty boring but he is chomping at the bit for an opportunity and he does have some name value still. The worst that happens is that Cormier destroys him and moves to UFC or Sylvia pulls off the miracle and they sell him as a rocky figure making a comeback in the UFC against the odds. I've heard of worse fights.

This fight makes perfect sense! Cormier is a relatively unknown and until Barnett no one really cared.

Timmy is a former UFC HW champ and on a come back. Will be interesting to see how this pans out!

Cmon... Timmy was a champ many years ago, but he wasn't that good then and he certainly isn't much better now (if any better at all).

Strikeforce are struggling for different fights as there roster isn't that deep and any other decent talent is going to the UFC. It doesn't look like the Zuffa boys want to spend any money on Strikeforce at the moment.

The fight isn't happening according to Dana White. I think it's a shame for timmy, woulda been nice to see him have one last throw of the dice. Fuck knows who they'll have Cormier fight now.

Personally I'm a fan of Big Timmy back from when he poleaxed Ricco for the title & would have loved to see him getting another opportunity.
Not sure who else there is not already tied up who they can match up with Cormier. Can't see a rematch with Barnett so soon We all know Fedor is out of the picture.

As they have one last fight to do, why not sent over Frank Mir.
He lost to JDS but has enough name value to draw interest to Strikeforce as a former multiple champion
If he beats Cormier then that resets Mir's career back towards the title & if Cormier wins he beats one of the UFC's top Heavyweights possibly leading to walking in & challenging winner of JDS/ Cain (Although I presume then we get the typical AKA BS as can't see Cain & Cormier fighting)

If this fight DOES go ahead, I think it's a bit cold

1. Tim has built fan support for a UFC comeback
2. He gets to be Cormier's +1 Strikeforce fight, and possibly even Barnett's
3. If both beat him, he gets cut, they get signed to the UFC and the fans get told "we gave him another chance, and look what happened!"
