Default Marc Goddard voted onto Technical board of IMMAF

    Our prayers have been answered!

    http://www.immaf.org/2012/07/mark-goddard/

Yesterday Mr. Marc Goddard was elected as a member of the Technical Committee by the IMMAF board. Mr. Goddard joins the Technical Committee Chairman Mr. Marc Ratner.

The task of the Technical committee is to investigate best practice around the world and work out a framework for amateur MMA rules that the IMMAF will recommend. The technical committee will also formulate recommendations for rules in recreational MMA and policies for the safe progression from one level to the next, from when a practitioner first starts to train MMA all the way to the top professional level. The Technical committee is still being formed and more members will be added in the near future.

Mr. Goddard was elected based on his work as an MMA referee and official in which he has an outstanding international experience from the amateur and professional arena. He has been involved in the UK MMA scene in one form or another from its early inception, starting out as an MMA & Submission Grappling competitor he later moved into the officiating side of the sport. Calling upon his years of direct experience and his passion for MMA, coupled with an in-depth understanding of the technical aspects of the sport, Mr. Goddard quickly became the referee of choice for many of the UK’s leading domestic promotions.

Cage Warriors, Cage Gladiators, OMMAC, BAMMA, Ultimate Force, FX3, Valley of Kings, Fusion and Knuckle Up are some of the UK domestic promotions that have enlisted Mr. Goddard for his services. He then became the first ever UK Referee to be appointed for the UFC and quickly followed this up by being the first ever UK MMA Referee to be licensed and sanctioned to Referee in the USA. Marc has since travelled and officiated through-out the world taking in Ireland, Germany, Sweden, The United Arab Emirates, Jordan, India, Australia, Brazil, Japan and the USA. Having taken in thousands of bouts in hundreds of competitions throughout the world, his experience is unparalleled, and the expertise he brings to the Technical Committee will be of great value to the IMMAF.

Im not going to congratulate Marc as I do not think it is something that will hugely benefit him personally or that he believes it will.

I think it is something selfless that will cost him time and money.

It is a position that will bring allot of stress and grief onto his shoulders that is done solely to progress the sport in the UK and internationally.

Marc is our best man for this job and I thank him sincerely and wholeheartedly for taking on the position for the benefit of the sport.

Firstly - many thanks for the kind words and votes of confidence. As has been touched on before the road we face will be a long one - not forgetting just how far we have come in such a short space of time already. My role will develop over time as will local and National recognition of our movement. A LOT of work and free time is going and has gone into the formation of the positive steps needed for the progression, integrity and safety of MMA here in the UK.

I look forward to the coming months, the launch and the development with like minded individuals here in the UK who strive for the same objective.

    Many thanks.
