Wayne Murrie vs. Arni Isaksson
Cage Contender XV, October 29th. Kings Hall, Belfast
Both Wayne Murrie (17-4) and Arni Isaksson (11-4) have taken on some of the toughest competition on the European MMA circuit. They're known for being well-rounded scrappers with a penchant for swinging bombs. This tees this up as arguably the most exciting battle of the weekend.
"The Ice Viking" has been fighting professionally since 2005, taking scalps such as Dennis Siver and Greg Loughran in his early Cage Warriors days. He returned from a three-year hiatus to put on the fight of the year against Luis Dutre Jr in 2009, and since then he has consistently taken on stern tests with every outing.
Murrie currently rides a five-fight win streak into this one, with the notable names of Seydina Seck and Ross Pointon coming within that string of victories. He has KO power and a strong submission game that has made him a tricky man to beat - even UFC star John Maguire struggled when they fought to a split decision for the OMMAC title.
Both guys are competent in all areas and this interim welterweight title fight is one not to be missed.
