Will it stop things like this though?
Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer
Any moves towards regulation sound great, so this has got to be a positive thing.
Just out of interest though, have there ever been any known cases of any fighters contracting HIV or any blood borne diseases as a result of an MMA fight?
Also, people drawing comparisons between Boxing and MMA, don't really work. I think the pro medicals/license for boxing is around the £700 mark, but this includes all brain scans etc as well as bloods. However, A friend of mine recently earned £2700 for his 3rd pro boxing fight, another mate got just under £1000 for his pro debut. I got £350 for my 3rd pro mma fight!

Bear in mind that this is a step forward for the legitimacy of the sport - which means a step towards more mainstream acceptance, with the potential of reaching a wider audience and attracting more sponsorship. In the long run, that's a good thing for fighters financially.
At the moment, there are still plenty of companies that won't touch MMA in this country because of its image problem. This is a move in the right direction
