Haven't really heard any critism at all regarding the reffing until I read this today.

The stand up thing is spot on. I dunno why it happens at all... would be much better to have a stalling warning and then if the fighter who has been warned doesn't become active, deduct a point. The current way things are makes it a legit technique for fighters who are outmatched on the floor to just hold on and try nothing. If a fighter is in a dominant position and is stalling then for sure, stand them up, but if a guy is on the bottom and just holding why should they be rewarded with a free escape??

lol - I love reports like this! Infactual, un-educated and simply wrong. I cannot speak for the other ref's fights as I did not sit and watch them all in full.

For the record I refereed five fights on sat night, the first four all went the distance. Thats 12 whole rounds totalling a full 60 mins [we all saw what happened in the main event!] during that whole time I had a grand total of two stand ups [once each in two seperate fights] - both times for the top position fighter in the first instance for simply holding and the second instance the fight at a stalemate with no advancement in position or significant offence.

I am my own harshest critic and if I make a call that I am not particularly happy with I am the first to say. Working in fights that are watched by millions world wide yet having a handful of tweets and unhappy Sherdoggers is as good statistic as you can get and one that I can live with.

As a referee they say its par for the course, or is it? I even had a tweet Sat night saying that I should die, yes die. All because I stood one fighter up once in 15 full minutes.

God love MMA :-) [and twitter!]

Someone saying you should die is a little harsh. Like I said in the first post, I hadn't heard anything and I personally didn't see anything during the show, I'll be watching it back so I'll see if even notice it the second time round.

To be honest I didn't notice anything, thought the stand-ups when they happened were fair enough as guys weren't active enough

When I read the article my first thought was the guy was slagging Marc's reffing yet wasn't able to actually raise a specific example of bad reffing. Bad piece of writing that was.

I haven't watched the event properly, my comment was on stand-ups in general btw.

Classic example of a guy trying to make his name by just slagging off other people with snide comments on the internet. What a talentless cunt.
