Because you was scared of them picking off your fighters.

No sure who most of you are on here, but my name is Mark Turner. In case you've no heard of me I am from Fife and now live in Chicago Illinois in the USA where I have my academy. I am a Brasa Team blackbelt under Demian Maia and have been training BJJ in the states for over 12 years and I've competed at tournaments all over the world. Including the IBJJF Worlds, IBJJF PAN AMS, ADCC, Cbjje Pan Americano and NAGA to name a few.

In regards to the garbage being talked about on here about the Clarks and Manga....Ive got a few words to say.

First off....I was the one who reached out to the Clarks. None of them chased me down to try and start an affiliation to our team and get any type of promotion or anything. Since I contacted them I saw they want nothing more than to train and compete and do good by a sport and lifestyle I have dedicated my life towards. If I thought for a second that they were looking to "buy belts" or buy anything regarding jiu jitsu, there would have been no connection to them with me, my team (Brasa) or my friends. Demian Maia, Marcelo Manga, etc.

I've travelled to Scotland to train with these lads and travelled to Portugal and Brazil to compete with them. They are the real deal and they love jiu jitsu. They do not care about all the jealousy and politics that goes on with Scotland and bjj and train hard and just want to learn and get better.

They have competed all over the world and brought back medals at whatever belt level they have had. How in the world are you refuting their rank or their abilities. Swing by the gym all the medals are up on the wall for you to see.

Regarding Manga....Manga has been a good friend of mine for years. He has spent a lot of time in my academy training with me and my students and I thought there would be no one better to send to scotland for an extended period of time to help the guys at Team Unity and bring a top quality blackbelt to Scotland. Manga is a great guy with a heart of gold and the man honestly doesnt have a bad bone in his body. To even dream up the nonsense that Manga is selling belts to anyone is laughable. believe me....after being with the Brasa team and with Demian Maia since blue belt....WE DONT SELL BELTS! I can attest to this from experience.

The Clark lads are doing great things for BJJ in Scotland. I am proud of their work. When they bring someone in for a seminar, workshop etc instead of being jealous of it you need to get your backsides there to get some quality knowledge, and good training. Like it or not Scotland is a small fry in BJJ. Nothing like in Brazil or here in the States. Jump on a plane....travel, see what jiu jitsu is...where jiu jitsu is...you"ll be glad there are guys in Scotland like the Clarks who are trying to help develop jiu jitsu in Scotland while its in its infancy. They are not trying to "get rich" off jiu jitsu they love the sport and spend both their time and hard earned money bringing the best training to their students and themselves.

My advise to you is stop worrying about what other people are doing or not doing and get on the mat and train. jiu jitsu is YOURS. Do what you want with it. make it a hobby, use it to help you with your fitness, compete, use it to keep your mind sharp, or make it your lifestyle and your life. Its up to you. You cant fake jiu jitsu. the mat doesnt like. trophy cabinets dont lie.

Overall a pretty enjoyable post, few little things i'd like to say however.

1. Anyone can compete in tournaments all over the world, it takes no skill to fill in a registration form and pay your entry fee and travel expenses. Not trying to be a dick just 'calling it like it is'.

2. You 'reached' out to the Clarks? For what reason? So you could do a few seminars and make some cash or am I missing the point? Not that there is anything wrong with this(I assume teaching BJJ is how you make your money), but i feel like 'reached out' is the wrong term here. Perhaps offered a service for a price would be a more realistic way of describing it?

3. You didn't say anywhere that you believed David Clark was purple belt level, can you put your hand on your heart and swear down to Helio that you honestly believe this?

4. You maybe don't sell belts but certain evidence strongly suggests the contrary. David Clark is not a purple belt by any accounts he is not even blue belt level however after he paid Manga to come over for a few months he was awarded that rank. I am sure there was no agreement that this was going to happen but I am also sure that Manga would of felt a debt of gratitude for the kindness of David showed to him while he was here. Being 'a great guy, with a heart of gold' he felt obligated to repay this act of kindness by awarding a belt. I am willing to admit that perhaps i am wrong if you are willing to admit that perhaps i am right? Fair trade?

5. 'You can't fake Jiu Jitsu' - Unfortunately this is not true, Ricky Ricardo Gillon is successfully doing this very thing right now.

6. 'Trophy cabinets don't lie' - ^^Please see above^^, If you enter the right tournaments at the right weights,age and experience levels then it's very easy for tournaments results to lie. 'I got a gold at the no gi worlds masters division'.......how many people were competing?.........'It doesn't matter i got a gold'......eh, it does mater.......'well, i was the only one but i still got gold'......well done

Oh dear Leon, you're making it clear that you're far too clued up on the goings on in our gym to be some numpty from Peterhead. So here's the crack. GCG rented 1.5 hours a week from our gym, purely to use our cage. Now since we've moved into our new premises we need as much of OUR space as possible to accommodate our new members and classes. Nothing to do with pointless politics, or dumping them from our gym, or in fear that a club with 3-4 mma fights under their belt will start picking off our fighters. We still work with a few of the lads from GCG, who come to our fighter training sessions and other classes. They all know they are more than welcome at our gym anytime. So bite me.

I'm not going to continually feed the troll, so if you really are a 'Real Person' and not some chubby little twat who loves himself, then pop past our gym tonight at 6.30pm ands we can talk face to face. If you don't show up, then clearly you are a fanny, and this is the end of my pointless retaliation.

And as stated by a few lads on here, can one of the mods please remove this pecker from the forum, as its people like him that will see the end of this place sooner or later.
