Yeah, I don't have trouble with blue belts (proper blue belts)... would be weird for brown belts to have any trouble with blue belts imo. GCSE analogy isn't harsh, blue belt is only the first promotion, strikes me as crazy that someone would pay for a private from someone who might have been training for 12-18 months.

Bah. Had the impression athletic blues would have enough tools to keep most people on their toes to some extent. i had a private lesson with a blue a few years ago (coz no-one else turned up, rather than by design) easy to be impressed when you are a shit grappler I spose. Ha, which may explain these guys' successes if they have any.

I fucking think about this a bit more. I lent that geezer 20 and he never paid me back. Is ok though. He freaked me out. Can keep the cash lol

I think a really athletic, strong blue belt with a weight advantage, might be able to give a smaller, older brown belt a tough time... but generally a brown belt shouldn't have trouble with a blue belt. That's why BJJ grades are meant to be tough and take a long time to earn.

Sadly, I know for a fact that some places are lowering standards and I have heard many a story about poor quality brown belts
