I've not once said this on the board but I watched it again last night and he didn't appear to get handled at all, GSP beat him in the outstriking department 210-80 overall.

You have to respect and admire the way GSP dominates and performs in ALL areas, he is an amzing machine in the cage.... I think people just get frustrated with him as he has the ability to finish fights as well but prefers to play it safe.

The Diaz fight - over 2 rounds of the fight were on the feet, Diaz can't really complain about that, I was more shocked at how he shrugged GSP off in the later rounds than anything, rest of the fight went just as I thought it would, standard GSP.

Absolutely spot on. Got to admire the guys talent, possibly the most well rounded fighter on the planet but boring as shit to watch. I was a fan pre the 1st Serra fight, he used lots of different kicks and strikes and would batter people. He can finish the majority of the guys in the division but won't take any risks, that's his perogative as he is winning his fights in a dominant way, but his fans need to realise that this is why he does get a lot of unwarrented hate. I only really stay up to watch his fights in the hope he gets beat. The WW division has had the best mix of fighters in the UFC for a few years now but has the most boring title fights.

Back on topic, the UFC needs to start dishing out proper bans for people caught juicing and get rid of the TRT loophole as it is to the detriment of the sport. It seems that a large percentage of US and Brazilians fighters have low testosterone?!? or pissing hot. This sport will never be mainstream if the general consensus is that none of the fighters are clean and that seems to be where we are at?

I dont hate/dislike GSP its just as a champion I feel he sets a bad example to younger guys with his win at all cost attitude. Lets be real for a minute if every kid copied his style the sport would be dead in 5 to 10 years as who would want to fork out between 30 and 300 to watch every fighter play it safe even when in a top dominant position and end up with the judges. My only gripe with his is he has tons of ability yet refuses to take even the smallest of risks why not try rain down a few punches and elbows even if just to set up a choke or armbar I dunno man just how I view it. Also im not one of these guys who dont understand the sport I love the ground probs more then stand up wars its just I love to see aggressive ground players whether it be subs or gnp.

I think you miss the one obvious point though Baby, GSP is still an elite athlete, he can do what he does because of this, not many fighters can nullify anyone they come across like he does, if they could, everyone would do it.. Fitch was maybe a boring version of GSP, but...GSP still mixes it up, has brilliant guard passing etc, he dominates, just because he doesnt KO every fool doesnt mean he is boring, dont get me wrong, I like probably most people prefer a KO 30 seconds into a fight over a 25 mind ground fest but at the same time thats because of the explosive wow factor, its a bit like watching a porn movie with dwarves and cattle over an Oscar winning movie.... the Oscar movie is more cerebral and should be admired for it but you cant help but watch cows fucking midgets.... Doesnt mean either is truly better to be honest.

Stupid thesis imo (pointed at baby)... If he can win, then he's going to do it by any means necessary, he doesn't have to entertain people. He's an athlete and business man, and he's the best in the world, it's something that you will just need to get used to.

Flip side is like saying its unfair that Tyson used to use his excessive power to KO fools, that just wasn't fair on boxers who preferred to jab and move...

Both points taken but the man should still be looking for a end game whether it be a sub gnp or a strike some call it brilliant others call it manipulation of the ref judges and time wasting. In my view if a guy is on bottom but working for subs trying to hip out/sweep escape anything really and the top guy is doing very little but keeping busy enough to keep the ref away then the bottom guy should be getting points for that even if he was taken down. I may have wrote this wrong but im sure you get the message im trying to spread. I just think they need some sort of rule to push fighters to not be content to do very little from top. Maybe Diaz is right maybe elbows from top are the problem idk.

I know what you are saying but to play devils advocate to that, why should he finish fights (I do think he should from a fans point of view) there are 3 ways to win, sub, ko or decision, he is only taking one of the three options that are given to him before the fight, same as the other fighter. Plus, the other fighter, is it not his fault for not training to defend those takedowns better - its not a trade secret what GSP will do.

I dont think GSP is as boring in fairness as some LnP fighters, he still has moments and when you watch him, you have to admire how easily he dominates dudes at the top of their games...
