    Default Bjj before mma

One of my students resonantly stop coming to my mma class at ZT when I asked him why he had stopped attending my class he told me that he wants to fight mma at some point but the coach at the bjj club he goes to told him he should not train mma until he is at least a purple belt.

What do you guys think of this..

Bjj coach thinks the less time the kid spends at the mma gym the more time i.e. money he'll spend on bjj.
You know when you've been gripped

I would say train MMA but don't fight pro until purple belt (unless they're also judo black belt or good wrestler).

Not enough, hence why most fighters on UK MMA shows are shit.

A lot of guys are flying into mma fights with pretty shite BJJ to be honest. I don't see what the big rush is all about.

Being honest I think I've seen quite a few guys looking to engage in sloppy ground work rather than strike now. I was at a show recently where at least 2 fighters on the card turned their backs during striking exchanges. Like everything it's about balance surely. Tough to put a marker on yourself and say you must have a purple especially with how some clubs let politics etc get in the way of promotions (and of course its only one area of fighting). Surely you are ready when an experienced mma coach says so, after all its mma not bjj

Total nonsense. BJJ for MMA is almost a different art in itself.
Loads of white and blue belts would destroy purple belts in MMA.
    Fact.
