Default Drunk Tanks - great idea

I think this is a marvellous idea. What better way to take on the Great British Drinking Culture than to wait until people are wasted and then teach them a lesson they will never forget.

‘The message we are passing to the public is a simple one. If you have a bit too much fun and end up in a spot of bother – we are going to be all over you. We will lock your ass up’ a source said of the proposal yesterday.

‘You can scream all you want but we won’t let you go. First thing in the morning, we will demand £400 off you. Better pay up dude, or you’re fucked. We’ll fight you over this shit. We don’t care.’

‘We’ve got fucking batons.’ He continued, ‘You want some of this? Now pay up or you are in for a complete kicking, alright?’

What happens when people who end up there can't afford to pay it?

    They get a payment plan.

If they can't afford to pick up the bill for their stupidity and subsequent ill health then they shouldn't get that drunk in the first place (they shouldn't be spending their more getting that drunk either). Why should everyone else pay for them, as is currently the case?

Yeah but what if they can't afford it at all?

Loads of scummers get off paying for other stuff, will this be any different??

Yeah, this is the chief problem; the people most likely to require this service are the least likely to be able afford it. How do you enforce something that is, for all intents and purposes, unenforceable?

Safe to say anyone that hard up is probably on benefits? Just garnish their dole.

when you get mangled in training, do you seek help from the NHS?

I do, but I don't have a problem with that, and not simply because I just want to take out and not put in but because I'm also happy to pay for people who get injured in other sports and fitness pursuits because these things have benefits that far outweigh their costs. Even if I'd never personally been helped with an MMA injury through the NHS I still wouldn't mind the fact that my tax money has/will help footballers, rugby players, etc.
