When I was 14, my appendix ruptured. I was in the hospital for 5 days hooked up to a IV drip, with no food or water, waiting for my cardiologist to get back from his holiday so that I could be operated on.

The cardiologist was needed as I had recently been diagnosed with having Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. We found that out after I collapsed and the fell down a full flight of stairs. Luckily I had only broken my nose & my elbow in 3 different places, as well as needing to have my head glued/stapled shut & and a chunk of glass removing from my hand.

Sounds like a small plaster would have taken care of that little boo boo.
