Thread: Whats the difference between Connor McGregor and Carlos Condits knee injuries?

Default Whats the difference between Connor McGregor and Carlos Condits knee injuries?

I see Condit has torn his ACL and damaged the meniscus and it got me thinking about McGregors knee injury - which was worse and why did they react so differently? Condit dropped like a stone and clearly couldnt walk but McGregor was able to carry on with the fight and score takedowns etc - from what I understand they both tore their ACL - was Condits more severe?

In short - yes. In length, await a better response.

When I did mine there was no way I'd have been able to carry on. Conor is a beast.

that's the most amazing thing about fight sports, the top people taking on board incredible damage and pretending there's nothing wrong. lol it's awesome. fair play

i actually hurt my knee last night training, it happens now and again - nothing serious but i can't twist on it at all today, hurts like mad when i do - no idea how Connor fought on with a torn ACL which is 100 times worse than anything i've done!

I got a grade 2 tear in my medial ligament during a wrestling drill last year, was screaming like a little girl, no way I could have continued , fair play to Connor.

I thought both had a complete ACL tear? Is Carlos' tear MORE complete than Conor's?

The only thing I can guess is maybe Conor, being so new to the UFC, was more hopped up on adrenaline than Carlos?

Conor: The damage to his knee included an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, medial collateral ligament (MCL) strain and meniscus tear.

^ this states that Conor had a 2 tear's (albeit I don't know to what extent) and a strain.

For most athletes, the standard recovery timetable is between 6-10 months, depending on how they respond to physical rehabilitation.

Carlos Condit needs surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament as well as a partially torn meniscus in his right knee.

^ This states that Condit's was torn, there wasn't a tear it had completely gone plus a partially torn (which I imagine is what Conor did) meniscus.

A tear can be a 5% tear... torn is the entire thing.

Condit's sounds like it was a lot worse and where Conor may be back in the alloted 6-10 months time, Condit's looks like it'll be a lot longer and hasn't yet even been given a 'rough' date.
