here's guy ripping the UFC to shreds about it as well:

It's so bad by now, though, that the usual word for it, oversaturation, doesn't quite cut it. This is something more like hypersaturation.

What I really used to like about the UFC as opposed to boxing was that the whole card was top to bottom with the best guys fighting, now it's one or two fights carrying cards a bit like boxing and what I do with boxing is just tune in right at the end to watch the main fight, hope it doesn't get that bad in the ufc.......oh wait

totally agree with this. that was one of the main things at the beginning which made me more interested in mma rather than boxing.

7-8 years ago, every fight on every single card was broken down every possible way on message boards.

Now a days people only do that for the top 2-3 fights.

there were so many fewer stars back then, and so much fresh interest from non-jaded fans lol

nowadays most people are cynical by comparison and have their fight sport interests spread across such an increasingly wide world scene, no way the undercarders are going to grab our attention. shame.

    Aldo has no draw whatsoever.

The UFC has too many show, too many average fighters and i have lost so much interest now.

realistically they should have a show a month and have a champ on the card

    just hurting for stars.

the UFC always says they want the fighters to be stars, but they always push the brand before the individual fighters.

I would say its the lower weight classes that have little draw at the moment, whether that will change in time im not so sure.

I'm finding it more and more difficult to keep up with all the fights these days, I never miss an event (even fight nights etc and the tuf shows) but ive got a few 'prelims live' still on the planner that im not even sure if i'll bother with! Not even sure whos fighting on them!

Basically im not that interested in the womens, 125 and 135 divisions apart from the very top guys.

i think its also a worthwhile point that the numbers will drop as the time between shows gets closer, 4 PPVs a month is a big ask for the paying fan, they will be choosier over which ones they buy
