All or nothing for Brett

BRETT SIZELAND is eagerly looking forward to his third Cage Warriors appearance in February and the MMA Clinic middleweight is hoping for a big year in 2012.

The 30-year-old has been added to the card for Cage Warriors 45 at the HMV Forum in Kentish Town, London on February 18 when he’ll face a soon-to-be announced opponent.

Cage Warriors fans twice had a glimpse of Sizeland in 2011 and the Essex native had mixed fortunes, with one defeat and one victory taking his professional record to 4-1-0.

His CWFC debut ended after 2.18 of Round 1 at Cage Warriors 40 back in February when he was beaten by Tony Machado via TKO (punches). However, Sizeland believes that loss was a turning point.

He was back at the HMV Forum in July for Cage Warriors 43 and returned to winning ways by submitting Craig White (rear-naked choke) after 4.15 of the first round.

“I think losing to Tony was the best thing that could have happened to me,” said Sizeland. “I reassessed my training and what I really wanted from the sport.

“I decided to put all or nothing into training and to just go out there and not give my opponent too much respect. I think I really showed that against Craig.

“I just wanted to set a very fast pace. My conditioning is always 100 per cent - I’m studying for an MSC degree in strength and conditioning at the moment.

“I think I’m very strong for a middleweight and everyone I train with seems to think so too.”

Sizeland is desperate to impress in the new year and he’ll get his first opportunity to do so in London on February 18.

“I can’t wait for it,” he added. “There’s nothing quite like a Cage Warriors show. The atmosphere is amazing and the show is so professional.

“I’m really looking forward to moving forward and trying to make a name for myself in the Cage Warriors middleweight division.

“My goals are to continue to improve my skill set. I look forward to my coaches helping me to develop as a fighter.

“I’d really like to remain injury-free for the whole year and to get several Cage Warriors bouts under my belt. There are some great fighters on the Cage Warriors roster now so it’s going to be extremely competitive.”
