Cage Warriors 79 results
Newport Centre, Newport, South Wales
Saturday, October 15, 2016

It’s been quite a year for Welsh MMA as former Cage Warriors middleweight champion, Jack Marshman becomes the first Welshman to compete in the UFC’s Octagon in November.  All eyes this weekend were on Newport and the local heroes hoping to follow in his footsteps and they didn’t disappoint - Welsh prospects Jack Shore and Josh Reed continued to shine both maintaining their unblemished records.

However, Saturday night will probably be remembered for Englishman Dean Trueman’s 12 second KO of Arnold Quero – the fastest win of his career.  It took two overhand rights to stun the Frenchman before he hit the canvas.

In the headline tilt, mighty Swede Martin Svensson marked his return to the promotion by putting the skids on Scott Clist’s three-fight winning streak.  The gutsy Englishman edged round one but got caught in a triangle choke just over 90 seconds into the second

Here’s a look at the rest of the results from CWFC 79: Newport.

Cage Warriors returns to our screens on November 12.  To mark an historic night in MMA, the Cage Warriors team will join forces with BT Sport to host ‘CW Unplugged,’ live from BT’s studios in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London.

The event will feature headline bouts between defending CWFC lightweight champ Chris Fishgold and the newly crowned featherweight champion Paddy Pimblett.  They take on tough US opposition in the shape of lightweight Nic Herron-Webb (19-7) and featherweight Julian Erosa (17-3) both were competitors on The Ultimate Fighter.
