Charity initiatives to increase in 2013
14/02/2013
CAGE Warriors Fighting Championship has another busy schedule of international events lined up for 2013, but the promotion is to continue its charity and community work along the way.
Earlier this week, CWFC revealed that it will donate the entire proceeds of one-hundred Cage Warriors 52 tickets to Surviving Our Streets (SOS), which will benefit the organisation to the tune of £3,500.
Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan has been a long-time contributor to SOS, a London-based charity aimed at reducing knife, gun and serious youth violence.
However, Cage Warriors’ association with SOS represents just one example of the kind of charity and community work being undertaken by CWFC, with the promotion always keen to increase its corporate social responsibility.
Reducing street violence is one of Cage Warriors’ main areas of interest in this regard. This year, representatives of CWFC will arrange for anti-violence workshops to take place in many parts of the Middle East, where Cage Warriors has staged seven events in the past two years, with more to come in 2013. Seminars will be conducted by fighters and coaches in conjunction with schools and community groups.
In Jordan last year, a percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales for CWFC Fight Night 5 and Fight Night 7 was donated to the King Hussein Cancer Centre, a gesture which merely marked the beginning of Cage Warriors’ efforts to make a contribution to such important causes.
“It’s extremely important for a promotion like Cage Warriors to recognise its social responsibility as a business and to therefore give something back to the community whenever possible,” said Graham Boylan.
“We’ve been doing that already of late but those contributions will continue to increase over time. Some of our fighters and coaches have been particularly helpful in assisting with implementing these measures. We look forward to continuing that work this year.”
