CWFC 78 results
Echo Arena, Liverpool, England
Saturday 10th September 2016

Cage Warriors 78 was billed as ‘the homecoming’ and what a welcome we received at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday night, September 10.  It was a packed house and proved a belter of a night as local champion Chris Fishgold (16-1-1) earned his fifth consecutive first-round win as he made the first defense of his lightweight title by submitting Frenchman, Jason Ponet (16-11-1).

Fishgold’s teammate, Paddy Pimblett (12-1) proved why he is one of Europe’s top featherweight prospects grabbing the vacant featherweight belt in front of his home crowd.  He needed less than two minutes to put away Frenchman Johnny Frachey with his fists of fury – knocking his opponent to the mat with his right hand and following up with a flurry of strikes before the referee called a halt to the action 95 seconds into the first round.

Tim Wilde (9-2) got back into the win column with a notable victory over former UFC athlete Mickael Lebout (14-7-1).  After a nervous start, Wilde went on the offensive and unleashed the full arsenal of his capabilities on his feet and on the mat to win a unanimous decision.

Here’s a look at the rest of the results from CWFC 78 – Liverpool.
