CWFC Champion Paul McVeigh To Face Musse Hasselvall At Bushido Challenge
Tomorrow night sees one of the biggest Bantamweight bouts ever to take place on European soil, as current Cage Warriors World Bantamweight Champion “Metabolic” McVeigh (15-6-0) takes on the Swedish superstar Musse Hasselvall (3-1-0-1nc) in the main event of the first Bushido Challenge event in Norwich, England
McVeigh is a seven year veteran of the sport and is currently ranked as the UK and European number 1 Bantamweight. However he comes into this bout with a point to prove after dropping a decision to the American Chris David this past October at EuroFight Extreme in Scotland.
McVeigh (Who is managed by Warrior Promotions Fighter Management) has been one of the UK’s top pound-for-pound fighters for many years and has fought across three different weight categories since making his debut in 2002. A veteran of Cage Warriors, Cage Rage, Extreme Brawl and the Japanese Cage Force promotion, McVeigh not only has an impressive record, but has also faced top European based opposition and has claimed several Titles in the process.
With 6 wins out of his last 8 bouts which have seen McVeigh defeat two Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts in the form of Anderson Pereira and Marcelo Costa whilst also claiming wins over the highly rated Irish pairing of Steve McCombe and Neil Serry McVeigh has shown his potential time and time again and now McVeigh looks to get back to winning always against the Swedish submission expert Musse Hasselvall
Hasselvall has found fame both on the big screen and on Swedish national television with his award winning combat sports series Rallarsving. However Hasslevall is not to be underestimated on the mat or inside the cage as he has a wealth of grappling experience and holds wins over the Shooto European Champion David Lejenas the Frenchman Alain Magot and Mark Connor (who is also McVeigh’s team mate)
However Paul McVeigh is the fight that the European fans wanted and is also bout that brought Hasslevall out of retirement. When the bout was originally signed the Swedish star had this to say about the charismatic Northern Irishman ‘‘Paul is the best there is pound for pound in Europe and to be the best I have to beat the best. This is the only fight out there that I would take. Its going to be the toughest bout of my life but I can assure all my fans and the MMA world that come December 13th I will be ready and will be returning to Sweden with the win.’‘
This bout is the main event of the stacked Bushido Challenge show which features an exciting Featherweight Title bout and several other top European clashes.
