CWFC Fight Night 9: Fight card update

RONNIE MANN (pictured) will be aiming for consecutive Cage Warriors victories when he returns to action later this month.

The English bantamweight will face Russia’s Marat Pekov at CWFC Fight Night 9 at the King Hussein Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan, on Friday, October 25.

Also added to the card is a light-heavyweight bout between Mohamed ‘Felx’ Ali and Prince Aounallah, while a replacement opponent has been contracted for Ryan Roddy, who’ll now take on Swedish prospect Fernando Gonzalez following the withdrawal of Mario Saeed due to injury.

However, the lightweight bout between Paul Redmond and Mateusz Teodorczuk has been removed from the bill after both fighters picked up injuries in training.

Nevertheless, a stacked card remains in store for CWFC fans in Amman, as the promotion gets set to return for a fifth event in the Jordanian capital since June 2011, with the meeting of Mann and Pekov, in particular, likely to be a highlight.

Mann (22-6-1), a Bellator veteran who committed exclusively to Cage Warriors earlier this year, made his promotional debut in July, when he impressively overcame Jose Luis Zapater at CWFC 57 in Liverpool via first-round TKO.

“I’m so grateful to be fighting for Cage Warriors again so soon and I want to thank them for giving me this opportunity,” said Mann, who’s currently fourth in the UK’s bantamweight rankings.

“I’m looking forward to this fight as my opponent is a very tough veteran in Marat Pekov, so I know we’ll put on a great fight for the fans. I’ve also never been to Jordan before so I welcome the new experience.”

Pekov (10-3), a 25-year-old Circassian, will be making his CWFC debut, as he aims to pick up a fifth consecutive victory, having not tasted defeat since August 2010.

A combat sambo fighter, Pekov has taken all but one of his 10 career wins via submission, all nine of which have come in the first round.

He said: “I’m very excited to be fighting for Cage Warriors, which is one of the best promotions in the world. This is a huge opportunity for me to display my skills to the entire world.”
