Warrior Promotions Fighter Management are proud to announce that Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy will make his second appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship next month at the spectacular O2 Arena in South-East London.

Hardy (Who is managed by Warrior Promotions and is the current Cage Warriors World Welterweight Champion) will face the eight time International Fight League veteran Rory Markham at UFC 95 on February 21st.

As previously mentioned, this bout will be Hardy’s second Octagon appearance, and the Team Rough House star will be looking to continue his fine run of form which has seen him win 9 of his last 10 ten bouts. This run has seen Hardy defeat the likes of the former King of Pancrase; Daizo Ishige, the K-1 Hero’s veteran; Hidetaka Monma and the two time UFC veteran; Chad Reiner. Whilst on his UFC debut last October, Hardy defeated the vastly experienced eight time Pride FC veteran Akihiro Gono by Spilt Decision, in an intriguing tactical war.

Known for his exciting stand-up style, colourful Mohawk and growing fanbase; Hardy has been turning heads on both sides of the Atlantic and in Japan due to his performances in those three Countries. Hardy also splits his time between his native Nottingham and the slightly more glamorous surroundings of Los Angles, California. Whilst in the USA “The Outlaw” lives with his Girlfriend and trains with the No-Gi BJJ Guru, Eddie Bravo at Legends MMA and Hardy also trains in Las Vegas at the world famous Xtreme Couture facility.

These USA training trips combined with his UK training camp at Team Rough House and Leicester Shootfighters have helped increase Hardy’s skillset and push the 26 year old up the rankings in both Europe (where he is ranked number 1 at 170lbs/77.1kg by the German site GroundandPound.de) and in the World (where he is ranked tenth by Fightmatrix.com).

However Hardy faces a stern test as he looks to increase his exposure and marketability when he faces the heavy hitting IFL veteran Rory Markham next month. Markham hails from Bettendorf, Iowa, which is the home of the famous Miletich Martial Arts team. Originally from Chicago, the former IFL standout sports an impressive 16-4 pro record with 11 (T)KO’s and is known for an array of stunning KO’s which have seen him defeat the likes of Mike Pyle, Brad Blackburn, Marcelo Azevedo, Pat Healy and more whilst in the IFL and other organisations.

Markham’s exciting style saw him snapped up by the UFC in 2008 and he made an intimidate impact on his debut at UFC Fight Night 14, where he Knocked Out fellow UFC debutant Brodie Farber with a stunning head kick in just 97 seconds of their July 19th bout. That KO left a huge impression on the watching UFC management who awarded Markham the coveted “Knockout of the Night” award and also saw his prelim fight shown later on that night on Spike TV in the United States.

Now both these powerful strikers meet on February 21st in what should be a highly entertaining bout between two Welterweights with genuine KO power. UFC officials have also responded the early hype generated by this match-up by putting the fight on the main card. And the popular US based news site MMAJunkie.com reported on Wednesday that ‘(the) bout between (the) popular British fighter Dan Hardy and rising prospect Rory Markham will likely take the night’s co-main-event slot.

This means the match-up will be shown live in the United Kingdom on Setanta Sports (which is available on Digital Satellite, Digital Cable and Freeview in the UK) and will air via tape delay on Spike TV in the USA. This will give the Nottingham based star not only the chance to showcase his skills again in front of a live arena audience but also in front of a watching UK/USA television audience too.

UFC 95 will be the eighth event that Zuffa has put on in the UK and Ireland since April 2007, and will be their third visit to the O2 Arena in London. Other bouts already confirmed for this show is a Main Event between “The Ultimate Fighter” season 1 winner and former welterweight contender Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez and the “TUF” season 2 winner and former Lightweight contender Joe “Daddy” Stevenson. Whilst also confirmed by the UFC is a Middleweight bout between Demian Maia and Chael Sonnen, and a Heavyweight encounter between Junior Dos Santos and Stefan Struve.
