Grimshaw released by Cage Warriors
CAGE WARRIORS can confirm that it has parted company with Ashleigh Grimshaw, after agreeing to release the 29-year-old from his contract.
Grimshaw (10-8-1), who suffered a split decision defeat to Graham Turner at Cage Warriors 44 last weekend, had one fight remaining on a four-fight deal.
The London-born featherweight requested a meeting with Cage Warriors Director of Talent Relations Patrick Vickers last week and explained he had other plans for his career.
“Having met with Ashleigh,” said Vickers, “it became clear that our exclusive arrangement was no longer mutually beneficial, so it seemed to make sense for us both to move on in different directions.”
Prior to his recent defeat to Graham Turner at the HMV Forum, Grimshaw had clocked up wins over Patrick Peresa and Ismael Padavia on Cage Warriors cards earlier this year.
Cage Warriors Director Graham Boylan said: “Cage Warriors is a big European promotion. It has been around since 2002 and it will be around for a long time to come.
“The promotion is renowned for putting on the best and most exciting fights in Europe, but if a fighter feels that this is not for him, Cage Warriors has no interest in asking him to fulfil his contract.
“It’s a crystal clear situation from both sides, so the Cage Warriors team wishes Ashleigh Grimshaw all the best in his career.”
