Hardy vs Wiechel at the Doncaster Dome

The current Cage Warriors Under 73kg/161lbs and Welterweight World Champion Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy (18-6-0-1nc) returns to action this Saturday at Ultimate Force, just two weeks after he defeated the two time UFC Veteran “The Grinder” Chad Reiner at CWFC Enter the Rough House 6. Now, Hardy will be facing the German star, Daniel Weichel in a Welterweight division Superfight on the popular Doncaster based show.

Hardy who is managed by Warrior Promotions has enjoyed a great run of form that has seen him recently ranked as 19th in the world welterweight Top 100 after defeating the American Chad Reiner, who Hardy stopped after 3 brutal rounds just two weeks ago. On that night the young Nottingham fighter was able to fight out of some early submission attempts by the crafty American before systematically dismantling Reiner in an impressive and methodical performance.

Now Hardy travels 50 miles north to Doncaster where he makes his debut inside the Ultimate Force cage, where he plans to showcase his high tempo and exhilarating fighting style against the skillful German submission specialist Daniel Weichel (15-4-0) in the Doncaster Dome.

However Wiechel is not to be underestimated as the Team Jiu Jitsu Fighter is a protege of the former Cage Warriors and FX3 Title Challenger Mario Stapel and has wins across Europe as well as the USA and Japan.

Weichel has also defeated some top quality European opposition such as the three time UFC Veteran Dennis Siver; the French grappler, Boris Jonstomp; the Cage Rage British Lightweight Champion, Abdul Mohamed, Gaz Rositon and more. Weichel is also famous for reaching the finals of the MAX Reality TV show in 2006 and was due to fight for 10,000 EUR against Iwan Mussardo on live German TV before legal complications stopped the show.

Weichel will also be looking for revenge after being knocked out by Hardy’s team mate Paul Daley early last year at FX3 and will be looking to improve on his previous unconvincing performances in the UK. That being said Weichel should not be underrated and has shown in the past he can step in on late notice and pull off big wins like he did in October 2005 when he won the under 83kg European Vale Tudo Grand Prix in Sweden.

This should be another top match-up between two of Europe’s finest young talents and will indicate if Hardy is ready to move on further up the World stage or if Weichel is finally ready to start his journey to the top of the world MMA scene.

This exciting event also features a stacked top order which features the Cage Rage British Heavyweight Champion Tengiz Tedoradze as he faces the rising up and coming Martin Thompson who is on a three bout win streak. A Lightweight Title bout between the top Irish talent Aiden Maroon and the up-and-coming North East star Ross Pearson. And a top domestic Welterweight clash between Leslee “Hollywood” Ojugbana and the local favourite Jason Ball.
