The Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returns to the Neptune Stadium in Cork City, Ireland later today with a 13 bout fight card featuring top Irish talent battling against European opposition in front of a live television and internet audience.

Topping the bill tonight at Cage Warriors 42 is the former season 12 “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Joseph Duffy (8-0-0) who returns to Cage Warriors after picking-up wins against fellow Irishmen Conor McGregor (7-2) and Tom Maguire (8-5) at CWFC 39 and 40. The 23 year old will once again look to show why he as been touted by many observers as a future star when he faces the Spanish all-rounder in the night’s main event.

However Oriol Gaset travels to Ireland with a wealth of experience in the European circuit. With wins over the likes of the M-1 Challenge veteran Maktar Gueye, the 2005 EVT 70kg Tourney winner Thomas Hytten and the skilful Finnish fighter Pasi Maliniemi, the Team Kaobon member is arguably Duffy’s toughest test to date.

Whilst the co-main sees the return of Jake Hecht (8-2-0) and Craig White (5-1-0) to Cage Warriors as they face either other in a Middleweight clash. Hecht, a product of the famous HIT Squad makes his second appearance at Cage Warriors following his bruising encounter with Che Mills at CWFC 38. Now based at the Boxing Clinic gym in Cork City, he will start as the “Hometown” favourite against the Englishman who returns to the cage after defeating Dan Edwards last month at CWFC 41.

This event also sees the return of Cathal Pendred (7-2) and Vlad Malko (2-0) to Cage Warriors Welterweight division following their CWFC debuts last November. This bout has been highly anticipated in the Irish scene and will see Pendred look to use his wrestling and ground and pound skill sto stop the dangerous Irish based Russian Sambo expert. Whilst Pendred’s team mate Chris Fields (7-2) faces the toughest test of his career against the well travelled German fighter and former CWFC Title Challenger Mario Stapel (18-14) in a Middleweight match-up

Whilst kicking-off the TV portion of the card is the highly ranked Welsh grappler Tim Newman (7-2-0) as he faces Grzegorz Tredowski (12-8-2). Newman makes his CWFC debut and is coming off a decision win over the previously unbeaten BJJ specialist Diego Vital earlier this year. Whilst Tredowski travels to Ireland on a few days notice after stepping in for the injured Myles Price. A long time veteran of the European scene, the Polish fighter presents a stern test for the Newport MMA fighter.

This event also sees a full five bout pro undercard alongside three amateur bouts. The full card is below.
