Veteran promoter Paul Murphy launched his brand new Barnsley Fight Night last Friday night at the impressive Metrodome Leisure Complex in South Yorkshire. Featuring a strong 13 bout card which contain a mix of Semi Pro and professional MMA action, the former Ultimate Force Co-Promoter was able to pack the fan into the venue which saw only standing room only left by the time the show kicked off at around 7pm.

Highlights of the show saw the powerful “Ultimate Force” veteran Wayne “Mayhem” Murrie increase his record to 8-3-1 which a quick submission win over the tough North East fighter Bryan Moore . Whilst the young up-and-coming Lightweight James Saville racked up his second straight win after catching Pete Hill in a Triangle Choke late on in the first round of an intriguing tactical battle.

Other pro action saw the heavy hitting Lanus Jones improve to 4-0 due to a dominant TKO win over Dan Sliwowski. Whilst TUF 9 contestant James Bateman got back to winning ways with a stunning stoppage win over Lee Barnes,

However fight of the night was reserved for the Semi Pro Title bout between Scott Askhem and Sam Boult, which was a classic striker vs. grappler clash. As Askham dominated the stand-up throughout the contest however Boult showed he had tremendous heart and a granite chin by withstanding some huge strikes during all 3 rounds of the bout.

However Boult was able to counter attack and escaped from some dire situations and was able to take his opponent down regulary during the fight and almost submitted the local favourite on several occasions. However Askham was awarded the win via Judges decision in a bout that could of gone of really gone either way.
