Paul McVeigh Faces US Based Opposition At Eurofight Xtreme And Bushido Challenge
The number ranked European Bantamweight fighter and current Cage Warriors World Bantamweight Champion Paul “Metabolic” McVeigh (15-5-0), faces the toughest test of his career later this year when he takes on two dangerous US based fighters in the form of the Elite XC veteran Chris David (12-7-2) and the WEC and Sengoku veteran Chris Manuel (6-2-2).
McVeigh (Who is managed by Warrior Promotions Fighter Management) has consistently been one of the UK’s best pound-for-pound fighters over the past few years and has fought over three different weight categories since making his debut in 2002. A veteran of Cage Warriors, Cage Rage, Extreme Brawl and the Japanese Cage Force promotion he has an impressive record and has faced some of the best European based opposition out there, claiming several Titles in the process.
McVeigh has shown his potential as of late by winning 6 of his last 7 bouts since 2007, with his only loss during this time coming against the former Shooto World Champion Masahiro Oishi last year. In that time McVeigh has defeated two Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts Anderson Pereira and Marcelo Costa, whilst also recording impressive stoppage wins over the highly rated Irish pairing of Steve McCombe and Neil Serry.
With his European based opposition now virtually conquered; McVeigh looks to break into the US market and will now face two American fighters in three months later this year as he attempts to show why he has all the tools to break into the World’s elite MMA promotions.
First off for the dynamic Dinky Ninja fighter is the eccentric Californian Chris David who has previously found success on the US indie circuit before graduating to such events as EliteXC, King of the Cage and Gladiator Challenge. Sporting an impressive 12-7-2 record with 9 wins coming inside the distance, he is not to be underestimated and is infamous for his Youtube videos that have seen him call out several top Bantamweights as well as Floyd Maywether Junior. Chris David has talked-up his bout with McVeigh on his Youtube channel which can be seen here
With McVeigh also known for his entertaining interviews and pre-fight antics this bout will be one to keep the fans talking in the lead-up to their bout on October 17th when these two Bantamweight top the bill at the Eurofight Xtreme event in Scotland. McVeigh then returns to action on December 13th at the Mercy Night Club in Norwich, Norfolk, where he faces the American Top Team fighter Chris Manuel at the inaugural Bushido Challenge show. Manuel is a veteran of the WEC and the Japanese Sengoku event and has mixed at a high level despite only turning pro three years ago.
Although the ATT fighter is without a win in his last three bouts, this BJJ Black belt will pose a formidable test for the Scottish based star when they meet at the end of the year. For more information for this event go to www.bushidochallenge.com
