Ross Pearson Retains His Title At Ultimate Force

Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson successfully defended his Ultimate Force Lightweight Title on Saturday night, when he defeated local fan favourite Ian “Mongoose” Jones by Rear Naked Choke inside the packed Doncaster Dome in South Yorkshire.

Perarson, who is managed by Warrior Promotions was able to fend off a bright start by the skilful Yorkshireman, before Pearson eventually got the upper hand on the mat and worked through Jones’ guard into mount. He then started to unload some heavy ground and pound and as Jones tried to escape the North East fighter was able to take his back and quickly seal the win with a submission.

This fine win sees the 24 year old improve his pro MMA record to 9-3-0 and puts it puts him back on track after his controversial decision lost at Cage Gladiators IX: Beatdown last month. However Pearson had little time to celebrate as he was immediately challenged by Mick Sinclair, who is moving back up to Lightweight after failing to make the Featherweight limit last month in Liverpool.

Nevertheless Pearson’s performance was impressive enough for him to be noticed by the visiting media who had nothing but priase for the rising Lightweight star. As the respected independent blog site called Pearson “The hottest prospect in UK MMA”. Whilst the growing UK MMA news site said “Ross Pearson left no doubt that he is indeed one of the hottest fighters in the UK MMA circuit by beating Ian Jones in the first round with a massive ground and pound onslaught”.

A spokesman for Warrior Promotions (Pearson’s management team) was quoted as saying “We are very pleased how Ross bounced back after the events of last month. He ended the year in style and we look forward to him moving on to bigger and better things in 2009”
