Simon Phillips has been selected to join the UK M-1 Challenge team in Japan on April 29th. Phillips is a talented Welterweight fighter who has over five years experience in MMA and has worked his way up from a successful start in the amateur ranks to picking up some impressive wins in the professional ranks.

Although Phillips has been bubbling under on some of the UK’s smaller shows, he has a very solid skillset and posses a very strong ground game and holds wins over the Cage Rage veteran Sami Berik, Geroid McNichol and Lewis Barrow (and won the Fightzone Welterweight Title in the process). This well rounded fighter has also defeated kickboxing Champion Zbigniew Kroll and the experienced top 10 UK Welterweight Lee Doski.

Although he has had some time out due to injury in 2009, he is keen to move up the rankings and did not hesitate to join up with the UK M-1 team Head Coach David Butlin and the rest of the team, as they prepare to travel out to face Team Japan next month.
