Later today Team England (2-1 / 10-5) face the mighty Russian Legion (3-0 / 13-2) in the Semi Finals of the 2009 M-1 Challenge.

This event also includes the other Semi Final between USA West (3-0 / 13-2) and USA East (2-1 / 10-5) and will kick off at 8pm local time (5pm UK time / 12pm Eastern USA time) at the 3000+ seater Sports Palace in Rostov, Russia. The winners of these best-of-five bout Semi Finals, advance to the M-1 Challenge Championship Cup later this year.

Team England (who are represented by Warrior Promotions Fighter Management) are coming off a sensational 5-0 win over Team Spain on August 15th in Holland, which saw the English team win Group A and end the regular season on a high. This was a great achievement for a team who were written off by both seasoned followers of the M-1 Challenge and also by observers in the UK, who have remained mostly apathetic throughout the year long tournament.

However Head Coach David Butlin and the team have remained undeterred throughout the tournament and shocked the world back in April when the English newcomers defeated Team Japan in Tokyo 4-1 in their opening best-of-five bout series. Although England were defeated 4-1 by Team France in June, they soon bounced back on August 15th when they defeated Team Spain 5-0 to clinch their place in the Semi Final.

Now England face their toughest test so far against the Russian Legion who are fighting in their home back yard of Rostov, Russia. To watch the event in full go to from 5pm today and buy the online PPV there.
