Warrior Promotions Fighter Management are proud to announce their rising Welterweight star ‘Judo’ Jim Wallhead (16-5-0) returns to Nottingham on September 5th as he takes on international opposition once again in the form of the Spanish all-rounder Manuel ‘Manu’ Garcia (17-9-0).

Wallhead, who trains out of Team Rough House/Leicester Shootfighters is currently regarded by many as the UK’s best unsigned Welterweight fighter due to his wins against UFC veterans Jason Tan and Steve Lynch and also his wins over top European based talent such as Fabricio Nascimento, John Phillips, Igor Araujo, and more.

However Wallhead has suffered a mixed 2009, which saw the Leicester-based fighter miss out on a place in the UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter” season 9 show, before suffering from illness, injury and missed opportunities. He finally was able to get back into action on May 16th at Ultimate Force: Oblivion in Doncaster where he defeated the London based Brazilian Fabio Taldo via a devastating KO after being sent to the mat earlier on in the round.

That victory extended Wallhead’s streak to 8 wins in his last 9 bouts but yet again Wallhead took time off to heal injuries and took a day job whilst waiting for opportunities to arise abroad, whilst his supporters and management pushed for the former British Judo Team member to be signed by an overseas promotion. However despite a vigorous campaign Wallhead has decided to take another domestic bout against a talented European fighter on September 5th in Nottingham.

Nevertheless over recent weeks Wallhead has been buoyed by the support of the UFC UK vice-president Marshall Zelaznik, who told the Daily Telegraph that Wallhead is “an exciting talent that we are watching. As we expand our roster he is top of the list right now. We know he can be competitive.” This led to Gareth A Davies commenting in his Daily Telegraph blog that Zelaznik’s comments indicate that Wallhead earning a UFC contract could come soon”.

This has left the 26 year old even more determined to show he is “UFC Quality” and will be looking to make a huge impression when he steps inside the Cage next month.

However Garcia is no stranger to Wallhead and fought his team mate Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy on late notice back in December 2007, and will be flying to Nottingham in order to claim some revenge for his TKO loss, when he faces another member of Team Rough House on September 5th.
