Warrior Promotions; the team behind the successful Cage Warriors event in the UK, have announced that they will be running the M-1 Challenge team for the Untied Kingdom during 2009.

Marketed as the “World Cup of MMA”, and run by M-1 Global; the M-1 Challenge has already started it’s second season last weekend in the United States with three, five-on-five bouts featuring teams from around the world.

After a successful debut season that saw 8 team battle it out in such diverse places as Japan, USA and Russia, the M-1 Challenge has expanded for it’s second season and now features 16 teams, which are spilt into four groups. New additions to the roster are teams from Brazil, Bulgaria, and the UK (to name a few).

Warrior Promotions were offered the chance to run the UK M-1 team as they held an M-1 Challenge event on late notice last year in Nottingham, which saw the eventual winners of the 2008 season Team Red Devils defeat Team USA 5-0, whilst the Russia Legion defeated Team World 4-1 in comfortable fashion. The event also contain three exciting super fights featuring UK talent.

The unique format of the M-1 Challenge, along with the UK’s passion for team sports pushed Warrior Promotions into creating a team for the 2009 season of this exciting global tournament.

Over the past few weeks Warrior Promotions have been putting the final touches to their very competitive line-up, who will debut in the 2009 M-1 Challenge in late April in Japan. This team contains a mix of fighters who have won Title Belts and also appeared in many of the UK’s top events and will be formally announced soon.

All the fighters have already expressed their desire to represent Queen and Country as they look to show why UK MMA is a force to be reckoned with on the global MMA stage. So watch out for the UK team to capitalise on this great opportunity and show what UK MMA is all about in front of a worldwide audience.
