Warriors go East and back again…

The Cage Warriors Bantamweight World Champion Paul “Metabolic” McVeigh and his team mate James Doolan fought this past weekend at Cage Force 6 in Toyko, Japan. McVeigh was fighting the former Shooto Champion Masahiro Oishi in the Cage Force Bantamweight Tournament Quarter Finals. Whilst Doolan was fighting the experienced Japanese fighter Naoya Uematsu in a non-tournament Bantamweight bout.

Both men entered Cage Force with high expectations and performed well in the land of the rising sun with Doolan flooring his opponent early on with a powerful left hook, and McVeigh taking the first round of his bout with a high tempo display. However both men were ultimately unsuccessful in their Japanese debuts. But they both impressed the Japanese media and the GCM Cage Force officials with their displays and everyone at Warrior Promotions/Cage Warriors hope that both McVeigh and Doolan will be invited back to Cage Force later in the year.

The main event of the evening also saw a new Cage Force Lightweight Champion crowned as the CWFC Showdown 2 Tournament winner Tomonari Kanomata was sensationally TKO’ed by the up-and-coming Japanese star Mizuto Hirota in under a minute. Hirota captured the Cage Force Title as a result and surprised many observers with his dominant display and will be tough to match-up in the coming months.

More information on the “Dinky Ninjas” trip to Japan will be featured on this site soon. However for more updates and information on this event visit our friends at or to for results and pictures of this event.
